    Did you hear? Another major bookstore is about to debut opposite Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Since the pandemic, we’ve been anticipating the launch of Taiwan’s mega-bookstore chain in Malaysia and we finally have a date. eslite spectrum Kuala Lumpur (誠品生活) is set to make its grand opening on 17th December 2022 in The Starhill, Bukit Bintang.

    With over 30 free-for-all art and cultural events scheduled this December, eslite spectrum Kuala Lumpur has already unveiled 3D-renderings of the physical store set-up highlighting 4 distinct themes. The theme around cities are inspired by the Italian novel “Invisible Cities”.

    Here’s a brief description of the 4 themes in eslite spectrum Kuala Lumpur:

    • ‘The City of Arches’ features a 60-meter statement wall of red brick arches, and offers a wide range of books in different languages, exciting arts, and literary activities, as well as an impressive selection of literary and humanities books.
    • The Floating City’ symbolise vibrant and dynamic street fairs with a choice of local delicacies and lifestyle ideas.
    • ‘The City of Rippling Waves”, inspired by shimmering sunlight dancing on waves, brings together cultural creative designs and everyday lifestyle product.
    • ‘The City of Eternal Day’ is a brightly lit yet minimalist corridor showcasing fashionable trends.

    Famous for his heart-warming storytelling and sketches, eslite spectrum Kuala Lumpur will also showcase the inaugural exhibition of famed Asian illustrator, Jimmy Liao. His illustrations for “Turn Left. Turn Right”, “The Sound of Colours” and “The Starry Starry Night” been exhibited in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China. In addition, the aforementioned popular illustrated books have also been translated into English, French, Korean and Thai, and adapted in films and TV shows.

    Visitors can look forward to a wholesome selection of books in English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia, and Japanese; as well as creative designs, lifestyle trends, performing arts and exhibitions, themed restaurants, cafés, and handicrafts – all under one roof in eslite spectrum Kuala Lumpur. Besides the monthly Recommended Reads and Best Sellers, this new space will have the eslite Children section, a dedicated space for children’s literature and bestsellers.
