JOHOR BARU: Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim visited the Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link) project, which will connect Bukit Chagar here and Woodlands North in Singapore.
In a statement posted on Tunku Ismail’s Facebook page, he made the visit to the project site in Stulang Laut on Thursday (Sept 5).
Among those present were Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Johor State Secretary Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani, state works, transportation and infrastructure and communication committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh.
Johor Baru district officer Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman and Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim were also present.
During the visit, Tunku Ismail was given a detailed briefing on the project’s latest progress.
On Aug 20, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said construction of the RTS Link was right on track for completion by Jan 1, 2027.
He said work on the project’s infrastructure has reached 83% completion as of July.
Loke added the completion of the rail infrastructure will enable the RTS Link operator, RTS Operations Systems Sdn Bhd, to install systems expected by the end of this year.
“System installation includes trackwork, rolling stock, signalling systems as well as power supply and distribution,” he said.
