    Tour bus driver, passenger killed in highway crash

    NILAI: Tragedy struck on the North South Expressway as a tour bus driver and a passenger lost their lives when the vehicle collided with a pillar at KM285.3. The incident, which occurred around 5.25am yesterday, left five passengers with serious injuries and 15 others with bruises. The ill-fated bus was en route from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur when the mishap took place, leaving authorities puzzled about the cause of the accident.

    According to Nilai deputy police chief, Dept Supt Mat Ghani Lateh, the bus veered off to the right side of the highway before crashing into the pillar. Miraculously, it also collided with a Proton Wira on the leftmost lane. The occupants of the car luckily escaped with minor injuries, but the same cannot be said for the two unfortunate victims in the bus. The deceased driver was a 33-year-old while the passenger was a 42-year-old Indonesian woman.

    The tour bus, carrying a diverse group of passengers, comprised of four Indonesians, three Singaporeans, three Filipinos, two Canadians, one Chinese, one Spanish, and five Malaysians. Following the accident, the injured were rushed to Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar in Seremban to receive urgent medical attention.
