When iconic pop-singer Taylor Swift announced that Southeast Asia will be part of her “The Era’s Tour”, local fans were beyond excited in hopes that she will be stopping by Malaysia. However, her tour dates were announced last month, with Singapore being the only Southeast Asian pitstop.

As much as Malaysian fans were dejected by the news, many were still hopeful. Fans were keeping their fingers crossed at possibly snapping 1 of the 6 dates the Grammy winner will perform in Singapore. Despite that, scalpers are taking advantage of this situation to resell concert tickets at an exorbitant high price, with CAT 1 tickets selling up to almost $3487 SGD (around RM12k)!

Yesterday (5th July 2023), presale tickets went on sale at noon and in approximately 3 hours, they were all sold out. Exploiting that opportunity, scalpers have surfaced once again reselling concert tickets at about 13 times their original price. On Carousell, someone is reselling VIP 1 tickets at S$16,000 (around RM55k). The VIP 1 package is originally priced at S$1228 (RM4439.90) including concert ticket and exclusive Taylor Swift merchandise.

Other than that, CAT 1 tickets, which were priced at S$348 (almost RM1.2k), were resold at S$1500- S$3487 by scalpers. CAT 4 tickets from “The Eras Tour” were also seen resold on the e-commerce platform at S$1000 (RM3447) per ticket, around 4 times higher the original price.

Initially, the popstar was set to perform 3 shows in Singapore. However, due to the large demand, the organiser decided to add 3 more shows to Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour”. An estimated total of 300k tickets were expected to be sold out instantly when ticket sales went live.
